Squarespace has updated their donation block and in this guide I’ll walk you through the changes and how to add a donation block to your Squarespace website so that you can start taking donations for your organization.

Head to the section where you want to add a donation block and select add block and choose a donation block from the list that appears.

To then set up your donations head to Donations and you’ll be given a tick list of things to do including setting up a payment processor and customizing your donor email.

Squarespace will encourage you to use their inbuilt payment processor but you can add your own such as PayPal or Stripe.

Once you’ve set up the backend of your donation block head back to the page and double click the donation block.

In the fund settings option here you can add all of the requirements for your donations, including adding a donation and setting specific donation amounts.

I recommend making sure you also toggle on custom amounts so that donors can donate whatever they want to your organization.

Here you can also set up recurring donations which allows a user to donate either weekly or monthly to your organization too.

It’s worth noting that the backend settings will apply to every donation block on your website, there’s no way to add different settings to different donation blocks, at least not at the moment anyway.

Back in your edit dashboard you can also edit how your donation block appears by double clicking the block and entering the design tab. Here you can change things such as the donation block background and border.

Once you’ve set up all of your donation block settings, have a play around with the design until it looks just right on the page.

When you’re happy, hit save and you’re all done!
