Adding Alt Text to Images

Alt text (alternative text) is used to describe images for search engines and visually impaired users. Here’s how to add it in Squarespace:

1. Start by adding an image to your page. You can use stock images or upload your own.

2. Once the image is loaded, click on it and select Edit.

3. In the settings box that appears, you’ll see a field labeled Image Alt Text. Describe the image accurately. For example:

Clothing store with high ceilings and lots of tables.

1. Click Save, and you’re done!

Adding Meta Descriptions

Meta descriptions help search engines understand the content of a page and can improve click-through rates from search results. Here’s how to add them in Squarespace:

1. In the Pages section, find the page you want to optimize.

2. Click the cog icon next to the page name to open its settings.

3. Select SEO in the sidebar and In the SEO Description field, add a concise and compelling summary of the page. For example:

This page is all about a stylish bucket hat, featuring high-quality materials and trendy designs.

1. Click Save, and your meta description is set!
