How to connect your domain to Squarespace
Once you reach the end of your Squarespace build it’s time to connect your domain.
For some reason, most people find connecting their domain the scariest part of building a website and today I’m here to show you there’s absolutely nothing to be afraid of!

If you need to buy a domain you can now do this directly with Squarespace.
Simply navigate to Settings > Domains and select Get a Domain. Here you can choose the domain you want to use and complete your purchase or search for the exact one you want. Once you’ve done this your just-purchased domain will become the primary domain for your website.
If you already have your domain from another provider then the process is slightly different.
In this instance you navigate to Settings > Domains and select the Use a Domain I Own option.
Here you’ll need to input your domain and then choose Connect Domain. Hit start and Squarespace will actually present you with a step-by-step to follow.
Select the option to open the domain’s DNS management and within nameservers change your existing name servers to the new ones that Squarespace gives you in that step-by-step pop-up.
Copy and paste them into the boxes provided and hit Save > Yes I Consent > Finish.
📩 Join the inner circle to get exclusive code updates
Your domain transfer will then be in progress and usually takes up to 72 hours to complete. Once complete, your domain is transferred and you’re good to go.
See, I told you it wasn’t scary didn’t I?
