Can you add HTML to Squarespace | Step by step guide

One of the most common questions I get asked as a Squarespace web designer is, can you add HTML to Squarespace websites?

Squarespace is famous for being a “no-code” drag and drop website builder that requires no web design skill or coding experience. And whilst that is true, it doesn’t mean that you can’t utilise code to make your Squarespace website even further.

So the short answer is yes, you can add HTML to Squarespace websites. Let’s take a look at how.

There are a few places where you can add HTML to Squarespace. The first and main way is:

Settings > Developer Tools > Code Injection

This allows you to add HTML to both your header and your footer. You literally just need to paste it into the HTML boxes.

The second way to add HTML to Squarespace is:

Pages > Click cog of target page > Advanced

Here you’ll be presented with a code box that you can inject (paste) custom code that you want to include in the page’s header.

The final way is to navigate to the edit dashboard for the specific page and add a code block. Here you can paste your code.

You can also select an embed block instead where you can embed a code snippet or you can add a markdown block where you can add a markdown or HTML.

As you can see, not only can you absolutely add HTML to Squarespace, there are various different ways for you to do so!
