How to Fix Squarespace Text Pasting Format Error

Recently there’s been an annoying glitch on Squarespace that means when you copy and paste text onto your Squarespace website that originates from outside the platform (e.g. a word document) the text pastes in bold and italic.

Fine if you want bold and italic text but if you don’t, it’s an annoying and strange feature. Luckily, I’ve found a way to fix the format error.

To make sure your text pastes in NOT bolded and italicised you need to hold down

Shift, Command, V on a Mac

Shift, Control, V on Windows

What this will do is paste the text in to match the existing formatting in the text box instead of pasting it in bold and italic.

It’s worth noting that this trick doesn’t work as well for bullet points and numbered lists and you may still need to edit these manually.
