Importing Image Metadata on Squarespace
You can add loads of different metadata to your images on Squarespace such as file names and alt text, which can be really beneficial for your wider SEO strategy.
What you can’t do however is add metadata to galleries. Until now. That’s right, I’ve found a way to import your image metadata on Squarespace, allowing you to add it to your image galleries and further boost your SEO.

Check out the YouTube video below 👇
Navigate to Settings > Developer Tools > Image Metadata Importing and enable the image metadata importing option that appears.
Enabling this will allow all of the metadata to be imported to images that are featured within a gallery on your Squarespace site.
Hit save and what you’ll have done is solved the issue many face on Squarespace that metadata can’t be added to images in gallery blocks and gallery sections.
It’s certainly a strange situation that you can’t add the metadata to galleries, but providing you add the metadata to an image before you upload it to Squarespace, enabling the import will ensure all your gallery images still include metadata.
