Change Your Squarespace Domain Billing (Simple Guide)

One of the worst things that can happen to your online presence is losing access to your website domain, especially if it's due to something as simple as outdated billing information.

Imagine your domain lapses because of an expired credit card or a change in banking details. It might seem unlikely, but if someone else grabs your domain during that lapse, recovering it can be extremely difficult (and expensive).

Luckily, if you're using Squarespace, updating your domain billing information is quick and easy. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you stay ahead of any potential issues and keep your website running smoothly.

How to Change Domain Billing Info in Squarespace

Here’s how to quickly update your billing details through your Squarespace dashboard:

Step 1: Log In to Your Squarespace Dashboard

Once you're in your account, go to the main dashboard.

Step 2: Navigate to the Domains Panel

From the dashboard menu, click on Domains. This will show you a list of all the domains connected to your account.

You’ll see important details like:

  • The URL of each domain

  • The status (active, expiring etc.)

  • The domain provider

  • The expiration date

This info lets you plan ahead and ensure your billing details are up-to-date before renewal deadlines.

Step 3: Find Your Domain

Use the search feature to quickly locate your domain if you manage multiple ones. Just type in part of the domain name (e.g. “Crawford”) to find it faster.

  • Change or add a payment method

Your personal information will, of course, remain secure and private.

Why Updating Your Domain Billing Info Is Crucial

Even though domain expiration may seem like a far-off problem, all it takes is one missed payment to lose your domain. If your credit card changes or your billing address is outdated, auto-renewals can fail. When that happens, your site could go offline, or worse, someone else could purchase your domain.

Proactive updates to your billing info can save you from stress, lost traffic, and potentially lost revenue.

Stay Secure and Online

Taking a few minutes to update your billing information can save you from the headache of losing your domain. It’s a small but important task that ensures your website stays live and accessible.
