Squarespace New Feature | Add email newsletter sign up to your contact forms

There’s a new Squarespace feature in town and it’s a good one. 

Squarespace have updated contact forms and added in a brand new feature, the ability to add a checkbox for newsletter subscriptions.

What this means is that when a user fills out your contact form, one of the form features can now be a check box asking them if they want to sign up to receive your email marketing.

This is huge for anyone running email campaigns. Before this update, it just wasn’t an option to include email subscriptions within your contact form. Now, everyone who sends a query via the form will be asked if they want to subscribe to your newsletter.

How to add newsletter sign-up to your Squarespace contact forms 

First things first, you need to add the contact form to your website. Navigate to the page you want the form to appear on and in the edit dashboard add a new section and select form.

When you add a new form, you’ll see that Squarespace automatically includes an email section and a checkbox to “sign up to news and updates”.

If you double click the form and navigate to Edit Form Fields > Email, here you can toggle on aspects such as requiring an email to submit the form, email signups and the option to send a confirmation email.

Adding the email sign-up checkbox to your contact form is great because users who are filling out your contact form are already further along their user journey and are actively seeking out communication with your brand. Without the checkbox they would have to fill out the contact form AND an email subscription form. 

This is a small but mighty Squarespace update and I recommend you go straight to your contact form and toggle on the email sign-up option right now.
